You probably learned how to wash your face when you were a kid and have adopted the habit into your beauty routine ever since. It seems strange to think if you’re doing it the right way, but not washing your face properly can leave your skin oily and prone to acne, blackheads and pimples, even more serious irritations and inflammations.

HOW TO WASH YOUR FACE CORRECTLY

Oily skin, blackheads and pimples and even skin irritations can therefore be an indication that your skin is not being well cared for. It’s a case of reviewing your routine and observing our skin care step by step.

1. Wet your face with running water;

2. Apply some cleansing lotion/face soap to your hand;

3. Spread the product evenly over the face, making circular movements using a face scrub;

4. Rinse very well to remove excess skin product (ideally between 5 and 10 times);

5. Dry your face with a cotton towel, pressing gently against your face, without rubbing.

Simple and straight to the point. It is important to repeat this process twice a day, once in the morning and once at night, before going to sleep. Having a specific towel to dry your face is also a good idea to prevent the deposit of other products (soap, shampoo and conditioner) from accumulating on the skin right after washing, ensuring that it stays clean for longer.

It is also worth remembering the importance of removing makeup well with a make-up remover before cleaning, as soap does not necessarily eliminate all traces of mascara, foundation or eyeliner, for example. Use a little specific makeup remover on cotton to remove everything from the skin before going to the ideal soap for your skin.

WHY WASHING YOUR FACE IS IMPORTANT

Pores are clogged due to excess accumulated tallow and impurities, which can lead to the emergence of seborrheic dermatitis, skin inflammations, acne, carnations and pimples.

Which does not mean, of course, that doing this process several times a day is better. Passing the facial soap and water on the face many times a day has the opposite effect and can cause problems in the same way. If you have dry skin, over-cleansing can dry it out even more, causing flaking, redness and irritation. Already in oily skin, the habit of exaggerated washing can cause the dreaded rebound effect. That is, the skin starts to produce more oil to compensate for the dryness caused by excessive cleaning and, with that, it ends up becoming more greasy, causing blackheads and pimples.
